Okami talks about UFC 81

Yushin Okami updated his blog and talked about his impression of UFC 81.
After I trained punching at the gym during the day, I went home and watched UFC 81.

Minotauro was terrific.  That sweep was artistic.  I was amazed to see his mental strength and his submission techniques.  I found a lot to learn from his fight.  I was also surprised to see how quick Sylvia gave up and tapped out though.  It seems the American style.

Lesnar, he was a monster!  His physical ability was tremendous.  I heard that he was a huge but super fast, and he was an athlete who has speed and power.  I cannot wait to see his next fight.  I felt sorry for K-taro.  His fight was good.  His combination of the punching and the tackling was perfect.  I should get those movements.  I look forward to seeing his next fight.  Almeida was strong too.  I would like to fight him near the future.

I see many middle weight fighters now in UFC.  I have to keep training to do a good job.

Thanks for opening the site back up, Suki! You're on my daily rotation of sites to check in the morning. Best of luck!

Just a reminder you work with tons of Americans as well as fight for American fans. You might want to think about what you say before you start making stupid assumptions that many will hold against you. Racial comments are not taken lightly by AMERICANS.

wombat. You really need to be little more educated before you post argumentative statements that you are ignorant about. Even so, I think the Jap needs beat some elite fighters before he starts talking about other elite fighters and how they should fight.

It all boils down to intelligence.

Yushin’s Corner: Tap, Tap, Tap, Tap

Yushin says: “Hell No, I am not tapping! I have too much honor and pride! It’s the Japanese way!”

“SNAP”

Yushin loses the fight due to a referee stoppage from a Kimura.

Later At The Doctor Visit:

Doctor says: “Well Yushin, you won’t be able to fight again competitively, but the good news is, you still have your honor and pride, and you are still Japanese”

Yushin says: たわごと! 私はアメリカのべきである
(for those who don’t read Japanese is says: Shit! I should have been more American!)

Yushin's Corner says: We challenge Anonymous so he can back up his own words and show us how much pride he has

Anonymous says: .......

(Turns out he's as much a pussy as he likes to state about everyone else,... he never shows up)

Yushin is still the man in my eyes and to be honnest, Sylvia taped out very fast, not even a struggle to pull out. How about you all download the Yushin VS Ryuta Sakurai where yushin is put in a bad Kimura but still wins the fight. Not quiting from him.

Ryuta Who?? Yet another virtually unknown Japanese fighter! He is a wrestler with a 15-13-4 record so it couldn’t have been that good of a Kimura haha.

And A Proud Canadian We Are Huh! Even worse! The only Good Fighter to come out of Canada Is GSP! shhhesh, Canadian!HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

"I Challenge YOU!" ... HAHAHAHHAHAHA!

Thanks I needed the Laugh!

Suki! You are beautiful!

anonymous makes me ashamed to be an American. Suki should consider disabling comments on the site to avoid idiot posters. It ruins the website.

Him and K-Taro are training partners, right?

Ignoring all of the negative comments from posters who don't reveal themselves, I hope Okami can step his game to the next level.

When you have the middleweight division getting stronger by the minute, there's no time to slack off, especially for a talented fighter like Okami.

I have to agree, Sylvia tapped out entirely too fast, and he barely committed to anything during the three rounds.

I'd not say a lot of American fighters are like that, but I have seen at least a small handful that tap as soon as they're put into a submission hold. But for every one of those I see, I am certain I've seen one try to power out of it (heck, even in the most recent UFC event).

As for Canadian fighters, GSP is the bomb, but there are a number of other Canadian MMA who do very well. Don't believe me? Check out the UFC's web page, and check out the number of Canadian fighters going into the Octagon in April.

"It seems the American style."
What a remarkably ignorant statement.

First of all, Yushin, you are making a sweeping generalization about a nation of 300 million people representing every race and ethnicity on the planet.

Also, lets let Big Nog apply a guillotine from the full guard on you and see how long you last. I suppose you would just let your throat be crushed and go unconscious. Wow, how honorable that would be.

This is an individual sport. It's not about your nationality, it's about your skill and heart. Frankly, this kind of garbage statement is better suited to some trashy forum than a serious fighter's blog.

"Also "Jap" is absolutely not racist whatsoever. It is nothing more than an abbreviated term for "Japanese". In English, we abbreviate nationalities all the time. Like Swiss, Brit, Swede, Pole, Turk, Paki, and Dane. "Jap" is only perceived as racist because of the continued use of the term after WWII. It was used so much by the American press that a once universal abbreviation became synonymous with American press articles celebrating their country's victory."

Sorry to interject but your forgetting one crucial thing about the use of "Jap" during WWII -- Pearl Harbor! The abbreviation was not used to make it easier for readers to understand but used in a derogatory way.

I talked to Yushin Okami today at Cage Force tonight.

"Roxanne, are people still upset over my blog on the English message boards?" he asked me.

"Yes," I said.

"Oh, man, that sucks!" he groaned. "I was just kidding around when I wrote that. I didn't expect people to get all upset. Was something lost in translation? I also had no idea that someone translated my blog into English, and people were reading it."

"Well, yeah, people are pissed off about it..."

"That wasn't my intention at all. Hey, Roxanne, could you try and do something about that?"

"Sure, I'll try," I said.

Thus, this message.

Roxanne, you should post this on Sherdog forums. This would really clear things up.
